Covid 19 Update

Dear Sangat Family,

As many of you know, it’s a difficult time for the tourism industry with all the travel and immigration constraints temporarily in place; and the Philippines is no different. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on many independent small businesses such as Sangat and we are working hard to prepare ourselves for the ‘post-COVID world’.

Sangat takes the ‘safety’ of our guests (and staff) very seriously.

This includes the health of our guests (and staff), ensuring the resort environment and its operations are maintained at a high level of hygiene and cleanliness, with appropriate guidelines in place – such as social distancing etc.. – for guests (and staff) to follow. Not wishing to be complacent, but a positive feature of Sangat in having a safer environment is that the grounds are open and spacious for the number of resident guests, it is located on a private secluded island beach so only our guests have access to the resort, and the general living conditions – such as the restaurant and bar etc… – tend to be all in an outdoor environment; there are few enclosed areas.

Safety also includes the security of our guests. This is in place 24 hours a day to ensure all steps are in place to help support the safeguards in managing the post-COVID operations.

An FAQ section has been prepared for the benefit of guests. In addition, feel free to send us an email at info@sangat.ph for any further queries you may have.

We hope to see you very soon!

Q ) What if I need to cancel my holiday (with possibly family members) because I contract the virus before coming?

A )Please notify us as soon as this arises, supported by a medical certificate from your doctor.

Under normal circumstance our cancelation policy is :

“For cancellations advised in writing MORE THAN one month before your check-in date, your first-night accommodation deposit is fully refundable, less a cancellation fee of 500PHP per-person.”

“If you cancel a confirmed resort reservation LESS THAN one month before your check-in date we regret to inform you that we will not be able to refund your first-night accommodation deposit.”

However, due to your unfortunate circumstances, Sangat will honour the cancellation as if it was made MORE THAN one month before check-in, notwithstanding what date your cancellation was. So your deposit refunded, less a cancellation fee of 500PHP per-person.

Or, we can honour the deposit paid and allow you to rebook for a later date with no re-booking fee.

Q ) What if my country of residence bans travel to the Philippines or the Philippines bans me from entering the country? And what if flights are cancelled?

A ) Under normal circumstance our cancelation policy is :

“For cancellations advised in writing MORE THAN one month before your check-in date, your first-night accommodation deposit is fully refundable, less a cancellation fee of 500PHP per-person.”

“If you cancel a confirmed resort reservation LESS THAN one month before your check-in date we regret to inform you that we will not be able to refund your first-night accommodation deposit.”

However, due to the exceptional circumstances (supported by evidence of such a situation), Sangat will honour the cancellation as if it was made MORE THAN one month before check-in, notwithstanding what date your cancellation was. So your deposit refunded, less a cancellation fee of 500PHP per-person.

Or, we can honour the deposit paid and allow you to rebook for a later date with no re-booking fee.

Q ) The resort: what measures of cleanliness and distancing are applied?

A ) All cottages are at least 5-10 meters from each other and there are only 20 cottages in the resort. They are large, spacious, and open to the breeze which occurs at most times of the year. They will go through a strong ‘disinfection’ process before a new guest occupies the cottage.

Housekeeping will enter your room for cleaning only with your agreement and they will be wearing the appropriate PPE equipment.

The restaurant area is very spacious, and tables and chairs will be appropriately spaced. Before setting up the tables for each meal, they, along with the chairs will be properly cleaned. Waitresses will be wearing the appropriate PPE for the operation. Mealtimes will be phased such that not all guests are in the restaurant at the same time.

All staff will be wearing masks while on duty and common areas will be cleaned on a frequent basis.

Only resort guests will be allowed in the resort and on the beach.

There will be hydroalcoholic gel available at various convenient locations around the resort. This will include your cottage, restaurant, bars, dive shop area, front office, toilets, etc…

Guidelines will be issued to all guests on arrival providing the safeguards suggested to be followed during your stay, such as social distancing, use of face masks etc…

Q) Dive shop: what measures of cleanliness and distancing are applied to the resort?

A)  Sangat is essentially a dive resort, so the safety of our guest divers in ensuring a healthy environment is of paramount importance.

Rented equipment will be cleaned on a regular basis with a ‘deep clean’ when a guest has finished using their rented equipment on their departure from the resort.

Guidelines will be issued to all guests on arrival providing the safeguards suggested to be followed during your stay, such as social distancing, use of face masks etc…
